Landata Technologies Inc. to integrate Mentis Technology's aiINDEX "smart"
OCR capability into its e-STAR Plus™ enhanced document land management system
SAN ANTONIO (July 13, 2005) - Landata Technologies Inc. has signed an agreement to integrate the aiINDEX
expert system into its e-STAR Plus, a comprehensive Solution for Total Automation of Records for county
clerks and recorders.
Mentis Technology's aiINDEX utilizes a sophisticated learning engine coupled with smart OCR (optical
character recognition). The system literally reads every scanned document, automatically identifies the
document type and extracts relevant recorded information such as grantor, grantee, legal descriptions, and
other user and state-defined data fields. Regardless of where the information resides in the document,
aiINDEX recognizes it and automatically populates the correct index fields for user verification.
"County clerks and recorders are seeing greatly increased efficiencies when they implement the e-STAR
rules-based system," said Alan Cellura, president and chief executive officer, Landata Technologies. "Adding
this automated indexing capability further strengthens the ability of the e-STAR system to help counties
handle higher workloads and cut costs in their property records functions.
"We are very pleased to become a distributor of the aiINDEX system," he said.
aiINDEX drastically reduces the number of manual keystrokes for entering index data, thus increasing
productivity and allowing an indexer's attention to shift to verification and quality assurance while
processing a greater number of documents.
"We are very excited about Landata Technologies becoming our distributor," said Leo LaCascia, president of
Mentis Technology. "We have worked closely with Landata during the last two years, integrating aiINDEX into
e-STAR Plus in Washington, D.C., as well as its in-house title plant in San Antonio."
The Landata e-STAR Plus system provides a complete recordation system, with the ability to handle
cashiering, document imaging, indexing and public access, in addition to e-recording.
